My Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
I strive to keep an open, empathic, and collaborative approach. My belief is that each one of us is the expert of our own lives and thus have the ability to develop a more sustainable transformation grounded in compassionate love. My counseling style is supportive, solution-focused, and based on discovering what works best for you . I currently maintain active licenses in Oregon (LPC, C7290) and in Washington State ( LMHC, LH60504969). My duty is to provide the highest level for standards of practice and to follow the Mental Health Counselor Code of Ethics as described by the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR).
I hold a master of arts degree in counseling psychology from Pacific University (2011) with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in adult individuals, however my work encompasses many different therapeutic approaches and techniques. Some of the other therapeutic approaches include: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Mindfulness Based Practices, and Strengths based approaches. Major coursework completed includes: ethics, multidisciplinary approaches, group dynamics, cultural competency, psychopharmacology, psychoactive substances, and human growth and development. To maintain my licenses I am required to participate continuing education courses and subjects relevant to this profession.
More About Me
I have lived in the pacific northwest for nearly my entire life. Being outdoors is my favorite place to be! I couldn’t be luckier than having Oregon and Washington landscapes to explore. Some of my favorite hobbies include camping, hiking, fishing, and gardening. I also enjoy playing music including piano and guitar.
My long-held curiosity in how others behave and think is what led me into psychology. After obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University, I knew I wanted to use my knowledge and skills to help and support others . I pursued my Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology at Pacific University where I fell even more into my calling. My interest in the field has continued to increase, and have worked at various levels of care including university/academic settings, hospital environments, and other community settings.
In 2015 my husband and I made the move northward to Washington. Having the pleasure of providing services to both Oregon and Washington residents is a joy and helps me feel even more connected to this place I love and call home.
